Microporous aerator vs Roots blower: Which one is better for you?

In aquaculture, oxygenation equipment is the key to ensuring the amount of dissolved oxygen in water and improving the density of farming. The two mainstream types of oxygenation equipment on the market are microporous oxygenators and roots fans. Many farmers are often confused when choosing: what is the difference between them? Which one is more suitable for their breeding scene? This article will compare in detail from the perspectives of principle, performance, cost, applicability, and give clear suggestions.

First, the working principle and structure

Microporous aerator
(Also known as nanotube aerator) is usually composed of a host (mostly a vortex air pump or a Roots blower) and a microporous aeration tube. After the host compresses the air, it is piped to the microporous tube at the bottom of the pool. The microporous tube is densely packed with tiny pores, which can produce extremely fine bubbles, thereby greatly improving the dissolution efficiency of oxygen.

Roots blower
It is a positive-displacement blower that forcibly discharges gas through the engagement of two impellers to form a continuous airflow. It is often used as a gas source device and can be connected to aeration trays, aeration tubes or nanotubes. When used alone, it is usually used with a bottom aeration device.
