On June 24, the Medical Engineering Agency carried out systematic testing of mercury sphygmomanometers in the whole hospital according to the "JJG270-2008 Sphygmomanometer Verification Regulations". The testing items cover core indicators such as zero error (allowable range 0.2kPa), airtightness (1 minute pressure drop 0.8kPa) and indication error (single error > 0.5kPa means unqualified). A Y-shaped tee pipe is connected to a standard pressure generator on site, and a medical stopwatch is used for stepped stress testing to ensure reliable data traceability.

sphygmomanometer error exceeds 0.5kPa, which may lead to misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis of hypertension patients. The operation covered 32 clinical departments. Among the more than ten problem devices detected on the first day, 3 were leaking due to aging rubber tubes, and 8 had a systolic pressure error of + 0.8kPa, which had been handed over to professional institutions for repair or scrapping.

This measurement work not only eliminated the hidden dangers of the problem equipment, but also promoted the formation of a closed-loop management system of "detection-rectification-prevention". Medical safety is no small matter. The Medical Engineering Agency will continue to improve the measurement and testing standards to provide a solid guarantee for accurate diagnosis and treatment. In the next quarter, the hospital will also carry out special project measurement of electrocardiograms, respirators and other equipment to build a solid medical quality life infra.
